Department of the History of Pomerania

Head: Professor Edmund Kizik

The Department of the History of Pomerania, headed by Professor Edmund Kizik comprises two sections: the Section for the History of Gdańsk with its seat in Gdańsk (headed by Professor Edmund Kizik) and the Section for the History of Pomerania and the Baltic Countries located in Toruń (headed by Professor Przemysław Olstowski). The members of the Department conduct research focused on various issues related to the history of the Baltic Sea region from the Middle Ages to the 20th century. The topics of particular importance for this research include the history of Gdańsk, Pomerania and Livonia (modern Latvia and Estonia).
