Department of the History of the 20th Century

Department of the History of the 20th century was created (under this name) in 2013 by merging the Department of the History of World War II and Totalitarian Systems and Department of the History of Russia and Eastern Europe. The Department’s 4 core research areas include:

1. history of the 20th century diplomacy;
2. history of the Russian Empire;
3. totalitarianism as particular phenomenon of the 20th century;
4. history of Poland in the 19th and 20th century.

The Department of the History of the 20th century comprises two sections:

• Section for the History of Diplomacy and Totalitarian Systems
• Section for the History of Eastern Europe and the Empires of the 19th and 20th Centuries
