At the Institute of History of the Polish Academy of Sciences, we combine traditional research methods with digital tools for acquiring, storing, integrating and visualizing research data as well as processing and sharing digital resources.

The Digital History Lab of the IH PAN offers both digital tools and support services in their use, as well as consultations on methods of working with historical data – from acquisition through organization, aggregation and editing, to analysis and visualization.

WikiHum – reference database for Polish historical data

INDXR – system for annotating scans of source materials

GeoHum – platform for visualizing data on maps

HTR– support in using HTR (Handwritten Text Recognition) technology

TEI Publisher – infrastructure for annotating and sharing digital editions in the TEI standard

NLP/GPT – help in automatically extracting information from text using Artificial Intelligence

The Dariah.lab infrastructure was developed as part of the project “Digital research infrastructure for the humanities and art sciences DARIAH-PL (Digital Research Infrastructure for the Arts and Humanities)”, implemented in 2020-2023 and financed by the Smart Growth Operational Programme 2014-2020  (POIR) 2014-2020 in the area of Development of modern research infrastructure in the science sector.
