The Library is a research workplace for researchers and doctoral candidates of the Institute of History of the Polish Academy of Sciences.

The Reading Room may also be used by employees of other research institutions, archives and libraries, by guests, partners and fellows of the Institute, and – pursuant to a written recommendation from a professor or institute head – by students.

Only employees, doctoral candidates and volunteer doctoral candidates of the Institute of History of the Polish Academy of Sciences, as well as employees and doctoral candidates of the Institute of History of the University of Warsaw, may use the lending library.

Manuscripts and unpublished doctoral and post-doctoral theses may only be used on site in the reading room.

You may use the Internet in the reading room, and make photocopies in the reprographic workshop of the Institute for a fee.

The terms and regulations provide detailed rules concerning the provision of access to books.

The Reading Room and the Lending Library are open Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. till 3:30 p.m., whereas in July and August the library is open only for staff and doctoral candidates of the Institute of History of the Polish Academy of Sciences and of the Institute of History of the University of Warsaw.
